Why do people not care that each year, billions of sentient beings are raised in tortuous environments and then killed (almost always painfully) for the gustatory pleasure of humans? Shouldn't the fact that billions of sentient beings are being subjected to painful torture at every given moment be highly disturbing to most people? Do they simply pretend that it isn't happening, or do they not care?

Tastes good.

Even if they were raised in the most pleasing environment, they should not be murdered to feed beings that can eat something else, but... the masses are dumb.
