>no caller id
>no warning
>no voicemail
>actually quite expensive
i get mad when people try to call me out of the blue without texting (or emailing) first. can't even imagine how pissed off i'd be if i had to deal with these things.
Anonymous No.17868406
I had one of those. Not a big deal. Actually it is relaxing.

it's rude. unless it's an emergency or i'm expecting your call, do not interrupt what i'm doing and demand my attention for 10-30+ minutes.

i literally just had a friend text me to check in an hour ago. i will text her back when i'm done with work and have a minute to give her my attention.
how lazy are you that you could be called at any given minute and be free to talk on the phone?

ya but like, you never just call your friends?
>"hey man, you busy"

unless it was for something really quick and time sensitive, then no. i have never called my friends, and they never call me.
acceptable reasons to call without texting first are:
- i'm locked out
- i'm online for food, do you want something?
- there's been a change of plans, here's the details

i moved back home for the summer, and instead of calling each other, my friend and i will send each other multi-minute voice memos and respond whenever we feel like it.

in what distopian shithole do you have to live in to consider taking 30 seconds to answer the call and say "yeah im kinda in the middle of something but i am glad to hear from you. gonna call back when i can but do text me in case i forget will ya?" as being lazy? you can answer the phone and say you are busy, how is this concept so foreign to you?

i find that highly boring and inefficient, mainly because i need certain details and i cant get through them without proper dialogue and asking specifically for them. i have to listen to the whole 10 minute memory, the way it happened for the said friend and in the order of importance he judges things with, not mine.

threadly reminder under 25s are:
>self reported as the lonelinest people
>3x the rate of metal illness as any older group
>quadruple the rate of employment- for their age- of any generation
>60% single
>staggering lack of critical thinking and reading comprehension skills
>2x more medicated than the national average
>suffer from total and utter technological mind rape
didn't the unabomber talk about this?

unless you don't do anything all day, then 98% of the time somebody cold calls you, you're gonna have to say "i'm busy, let me call you back."
which is why people don't call each other. they text first.

>>self reported as the lonelinest people
function of social media induced FOMO and retarded parenting that discourages and/or micromanages unstructured social activities.
>>3x the rate of metal illness as any older group
social contagion and overdiagnoses
>>quadruple the rate of employment- for their age- of any generation
that's boomers' fault for mismanaging the economy. we're literally the smallest generation (as a percentage of the population) in history.
>>60% single
yeah. you're supposed to be single in your early 20s.
>>staggering lack of critical thinking and reading comprehension skills
not true
>>2x more medicated than the national average
also not true. maybe for anti-anxiety/depression meds, but not for general medication.
>>suffer from total and utter technological mind rape
goy words

depends on what i am working at, but i can take 20 minutes away from it %95 of the time. i take breaks every hour too so i just happen to take it in advance. only in very critical moments when i am focused will i say i am busy. and %1 of the time i wont even answer the phone because i am THAT in the middle of something.

I would do without one if I could. Computers are better and paying for a phone is expensive. But calling people occasionally is unfortunately a necessity and everything requires 2FA nowadays

Using your logic, I hope you write a lot of handwritten notes at your desk. That's what it was made for, after all.
Anonymous No.17869310
the zoomer will really lash out at something as simple and human as phoning a bud. calling a good friend or receiving a call is extremely comfy. no texting hr burocracy needed. just calling and a "hey man what ya up to".
i hope that as you grow older you can appreciate your friends more; as right now you come across as neurotic and histrionic.
the phone won't kill ya, faggot.

You'd only call or receive calls at conventional hours or maybe from a payphone if an emergency. There wasn't plethoras of scams. Only small handfuls, if any at all. My grandmother might call her friend and talk for maybe an hour on the phone. In the year 2000 there was around 282 million in the United States. 250 million in 1990. Simpler times were better.
