Why is it so difficult for Europeans to accept that it was Russia that saved them from the Ottoman Empire? Without Russia, all of Europe might have ended up like Albania or Bosnia.

When Ottoman empire was at its peak(15-17th century) Russia was an irrelevant backwards shithole whose only value to the ottomans was tatars launching slave raids in their territory. Their victories happened mainly in the 19th when the Ottomans had entered a phase of terminal decline after centuries of fighting Western Europe.
