These TBQH. Ashkenazim may be highly genetically assimilated, but they generally do still have varying amounts of Semitic ancestry (if I had to put a number on it, hovering around 35%, but this can be much higher in certain families, pic related). Other Jewish ethnic groups range from predominantly to completely Semitic (e.g. Sephardim, Mizrahim, Karaim, Shomronim etc...). Hell, even the Falasha are still, technically, Afro-Asiatic Semites.
How some people have convinced themselves that an ethnoreligious group which originated in the Levant and greater MENA, where it fermented for well over a millennia before mass dispersion events, is somehow completely bereft of genetic heritage from those regions, is beyond me. Judaism and Hebrew are distinctly and incontrovertibly, middle eastern, and there are Jewish populations who have literally never set foot outside the MENA for 2,500+ years.
