I like Pope Leo. I think he's cool and nice. I like him better than Francis.

He was chosen for many reasons, and I really don't doubt the cardinals wisdom.
>he is American in a time of great upheaval within the American political sphere
>he is Peruvian in a time where catholicism is losing to protestantism in LATAM
>he has experience fighting child sex abuse in Peru
>he is politically on the left but liturgically conservative which is where most practicing catholics wish to be
>he is an incredibly intelligent man who is not only doctrinal rather than pastoral in his approach, but he also speaks English as a first language and cannot be misinterpreted as easily
>he named himself after pope leo the 13th who popularized distributism within the church and condemned marxism as well as rampant capitalism
>he is very young and, god willing, will bring stability to the papacy after two far shorter popes
I loved Francis, don't get me wrong, but he was getting old and less mentally sharp, it's nice to have a pope who is incredibly quick witted and clever again, like Benedict.

He was chosen because he's a middle-road candidate. He is still part of the V2 crowd, don't be fooled.
The Progressivists in the Vatican are aware they're gonna cause the Second Western Schism if they don't cool it with the Synodality bullshit.

Exactly. Francis recently made up some crazy rules that gutted Latin masses like not letting them be held in parish churches, not letting them be done by priests ordained after a certain year etc, it was so insane and malicious that I still find it hard to believe that it's real. If things like that aren't rolled back, if the libs aren't reigned in and if the Catholic Church still continues to be passive and lazy, just rambling about love and acceptance like an old man with dementia without actually becoming an active force in people's lives then it's all pointless.

Nah, especially since most Protestant churches are even more libtarded than Catholicism. I'd rather just learn Serbian and join some eastern nationalist schizo church. Or you know, go my own way because the world is ending and this dumb crap we've been fighting over for centuries like morons doesn't mean anything anymore now that man is more evil and fallen than ever.

Yeah, there's an energy in the air since he was picked. Tou can feel it everywhere online on socials.

>I like him better than Francis.
Likewise, though I could never bring myself to dislike Francis. When coming back to the Church since like 3 years old(baptized Catholoc, raised prtoestant then when secularist), it was Francis that got me to go to confession when coming back to the True Church.

Francis didn't just get help me over my fear of the confessional booth, he got me excited to live the Sacramental life.

"Protestant" =/= Reformed anymore, pal. Hasn't for about a hundred and 50 years.
True, most of the Reformed Churches aren't that far behind the curve now. But Reformed is a theological position extrapolated from the Bible. It doesn't depend on institutions to exist according to it's on ontology. It's right there in the section in the Westminster Confession that deals with the Church.

Reformed can just recognize that as heresy and move on with their lives.
Catholics and other religions who rest everything on institutional infallibility are the ones that have to cope.

Latin mass should not be elevated. Are you fluent in Latin? Most people aren't. Shouldn't people hear Mass in their own languages?

Well that's the thing, I don't plan on taking any theological positions because I just don't care anymore, it's all nonsense. People have bled and argued about it and thought about it and died for it for hundreds of years and nothing good came of it all.
>>17896620
Of course it should. Centuries of tradition drip from it, you can feel the gravitas and spiritual potency.

Well sorry, but I believe that this world is far more complex and mysterious than our human reason can hope to comprehend and that when the soul is involved, aesthetics more than justify themselves.

Honestly, I don't really care about the Latin as much as I care about the prayers that were removed. It could be done in my own language, someone else's, I don't care, I know the prayers and I want to pray them. The Novus Ordo follow a very similar, albeit limited, structure, which I've witnessed in India, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, Portugal, Spain, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, and here in my own country, Brazil.
I see no point in removing the Confiteor, or doing a simplified version with the Kyrie. Similarly, we only pray the Nicene Creed once or twice a year, and even the priest needs to look at the screen to remember it.
I don't want this. I want my faith.
The Latin is just a plus to make sure we get what we need. It's similar to the fear of Hell. Should Christians live in fear of going to Hell? No. But if the price of not fearing Hell is turning the Mass into a rock show for old people that never prayed a single day in their lives, then yes. Bring it back.
