>>17896620Honestly, I don't really care about the Latin as much as I care about the prayers that were removed. It could be done in my own language, someone else's, I don't care, I know the prayers and I want to pray them. The Novus Ordo follow a very similar, albeit limited, structure, which I've witnessed in India, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, Portugal, Spain, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, and here in my own country, Brazil.
I see no point in removing the Confiteor, or doing a simplified version with the Kyrie. Similarly, we only pray the Nicene Creed once or twice a year, and even the priest needs to look at the screen to remember it.
I don't want this. I want my faith.
The Latin is just a plus to make sure we get what we need. It's similar to the fear of Hell. Should Christians live in fear of going to Hell? No. But if the price of not fearing Hell is turning the Mass into a rock show for old people that never prayed a single day in their lives, then yes. Bring it back.
