Wotanaz is the memory of Thoth that Skadi brought with her, which then got humanized into a more gnome/trollike figure when Huldin of the huns absorbed the Wielbark germanics. They remembered the Huns as Hønir in the norwegian line of myth that Snorri wrote down. These other germanics that got tossed around europe by the huns in the conflict with Rome is what sparked the sigfried and sigurd myths of the sunken treasure (possibly refereing to lost roman hoardes as well as Attilas gravesite) as an updated version of the beastslayer myth of the previous yamnaya lore as well as the Nerthuz lore. "Wotanaz" became written as "Odin" probably in the intermediary process between integrating the Huns and creating the Hønir ancestor god as a substitute for the germanic/scythian Wotanaz. Etymologically, Wotanaz is the proto-germanic reference to the "Waterbird" or "Ibis/Heron" of Thoth. When becoming Germanic, the imported character of Thoth as the institutional inventor of the standardized Alphabets became merged with the northwestern hungergather crow/raven shaman simply because it was the closest thing.
The merger of Thoth and the Shaman is the same exact process as the merging of St. Nicholas, gnomes, winter, coca cola and Mariah carey.
Humans are syncretic retards who vastly overestimates their own capacity for analysis and nuance, and in turn blends every source of info into a sloppy slurry of traditions.
