I really wish the world and politics would just move on. Yeah they were cruel and of course they'll say they were a net benefit for the conquered. Every conqueror said that. Every conquerer or hegemon in the future will cook up some apologism for their actions to legitimize their rule.
But who cares? This is a new day and there's nothing productive about seething. I do not care that Europeans btfo the local big fish in my area hundreds of years ago. It has no bearing on my already mundane fake and gay life.
