It was the style at the time. Listen to How the West Was Won. They were legitimately the most electrifying band on stage at the time, and the music industry was much more driven by album sales so you could do "boring 12 minute drum solos".

I don't care. I'm exhausted from hearing nigger music blasting 24/7 for the past 40 years. I will gladly listen to anything no matter how shit it is as long as niggers no longer dominate the media with their overplayed fucking music.
