Um, no? Actually, the Romans killed Jesus. Why don’t you persecute the descendants of Roman empire aka Italians, Spanish, Brits, & Fr*nch, instead of Jews?

Nope!

There were no Roman legions stationed in Judea at the time of Christs crucifixion. Legionaries from Italy would not be stationed in Judea until after the Second Jewish Revolt that happened a couple centuries after Christ died.

All the soldiers responsible for Christ’s crucifixion were local auxiliaries.

The only Romans from Rome proper, was Pontius Pilate who wanted to spare Christ and washed his hands of the situation, his wife who had a dream about Christ and wanted Pilate to show mercy, and a Centurion who asked for Christ and displayed faith greater than all of Israel.

It was the Jews who agitated for the death of Christ, and locals who carried out the execution.

The Jews brought the case to the Romans that Jesus was styling himself as the Messiah (King of the Jews) and the Romans took them at their word and actually nailed him to the piece of wood. It didn't help that Jesus was knocking over tables in the middle of the Jewish temple and creating a scene.

As with many things in life, it's not binary. I don't know if Jesus would have been labeled as an insurrectionist without the Sanhedrin interoperating Jesus claims.

He claimed to forgive sins, something only God can do. He did stuff on the Sabbath, another no-no. If you don't accept the claims of Jesus to be God the Son he is obviously a madman or heretic. Even Christians up until recently killed heretics. Muslims still sometimes do.

But if you're Christian, the betrayal and death of Jesus was a good thing as it was all part of the plan and set in motion the resurrection.
