Tacitus also reports strange omens before Jerusalemโs fall:
- Phantom armies in the sky.
- A sudden loud sound.
- And a voice from within the shrine saying:
>"The gods are departing" (excedere deos in Latin).
Tacitus frames it in pagan Roman terms, the gods of the Jews abandoning their sanctuary.

My favorite part about it is that their temple was entirely destroyed, and the only building they spared was their own fortress. Which is what they call the "wailing wall" today.
So they're sobbing and kissing a roman fortress
But I've heard that the side that they kiss is most likely where the sewer was.
Jerusalem got BTFO so bad that they're still trying to lick Romes arsehole KEK

Also, according to Suleman the magnificent, the area was a holy dump. As in, Christians would dump their garbage their in spite of the Roman's.
So its a roman fort, a sewer, and a dump, before it's one of the holiest sites in Jerusalem

The word of Yahu came to me: โSon of man, set your face against the Ammonites and prophesy against them. Say to them, โHear the word of the Sovereign Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because you said โAha!โ over my sanctuary when it was desecrated and over the land of Israel when it was laid waste and over the people of Judah when they went into exile, therefore I am going to give you to the people of the East as a possession. They will set up their camps and pitch their tents among you; they will eat your fruit and drink your milk. I will turn Rabbah into a pasture for camels and Ammon into a resting place for sheep. Then you will know that I am Yahu. For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because you have clapped your hands and stamped your feet, rejoicing with all the malice of your heart against the land of Israel, therefore I will stretch out my hand against you and give you as plunder to the nations. I will wipe you out from among the nations and exterminate you from the countries. I will destroy you, and you will know that I am Yahu.โโ
In 586 BC, Jerusalem was destroyed by the Neo-Babylonian Empire under King Nebuchadnezzar II. This event marked the end of the Kingdom of Judah and the beginning of the Babylonian exile. The city was sacked, the First Temple was destroyed, and many of its inhabitants were deported to Babylon.
