Logic.
What is logic?

How do you log icomplaint with God?

What makes things l o g i c a l

Well here it is to discuss:
>An argument is valid if, assuming the premises are true, the conclusion must be true.
>An argument is sound if it is both valid and all its premises are actually true.
>Deductive logic deals with arguments where the conclusion follows with necessity (e.g., mathematics, formal reasoning).
>Inductive logic involves reasoning where the conclusion is probable based on the premises (e.g., scientific inference).
>Formal logic uses symbols and structured systems (like propositional and predicate logic) to analyze arguments precisely.
>Informal logic focuses on everyday reasoning, fallacies, and how arguments are used in natural language.
>Logic also studies fallacies, which are errors in reasoning that make arguments invalid or misleading (e.g., straw man, ad hominem, slippery slope).

Make a logical argument using inductive or deductive reasoning, without relying on a logical fallacy to support your premise

Logic is what I use to argue with others online.

Accurate representation of pagay "philosophers".

Aristotle:

"Uh....uhh...so....table made of 4 different whys."

Aquinas: "What we are living in right now has a cause, and that has a cause, viz. ad infinitum, thusly an uncaused cause exists which we call God. And that God is necessarily omnipotent and omniscient."

I am Aristotle. I only eat through my ass and shit out of my mouth. Therefore the current year is 2025 and I've never been to Greece.

those logic posts by swedebro on /pol/ were pretty cool.
too bad they get deleted for off topic.

If I (eat) then I only eat through my (ass)

Aristotle->I
Ass iff Eat
2025 & -greece then Eat
the preposition that mostly weakens the argument is you being Aristotle.
You could reasonable concluded that Aristotle eat through his ass becuase the current year is 2025 and that he has never been to greece.
this is a logical argument but it is unsound and possible invalid

The principle of explosion is the one thing about classical logic that seems very fishy. Suppose you have a little contradictory belief, like you have an incorrect understanding of the Monty Hall problem or something, would it really be valid for you to conclude that the moon is made of cheese? It doesn't seem like it. And I think most people probably do have some amount of inconsistency in their beliefs, but that doesn't mean it's equally valid for them to draw any conclusion whatsoever.

My favorite type of logic is modal logic. I just started reading a book on it actually. Here's an example of a sorta trivial model I created as an answer to one of the exercises in the book. I'm amazed that I taught myself how to write in these cool symbols. But honestly I've only scratched the surface. There's so much I don't know.

epistemology =/= logic
belief=/=truth
not all the contents of the mind would be considered "knowledge" (classicaly defined as justified true belief)
