This is a philosophy thread, dumb mods.
Is there a good argument against the obvious pragmatic value of racism? It improves in-group cohesion, fosters ethnically-inclined values and traditions, which leads to general improvement of the population through shared experience. A cohesive group is bound to outperform an atomized group.
Antiracism or "individualism", as far as I can see, only offers one trade-off benefit of enabling the individualist to 'see past race', an ability which offers marginal benefits in things like employment and socialization.
>It improves in-group cohesion, fosters ethnically-inclined values and traditions, which leads to general improvement of the population through shared experience.
Africa follows this model, and it's a shithole. Europe follows the opposite model, and it's working way better. There's your pragmatism.
It's fucking stupid. Modern racism is essentially based on a bunch of outdated and disproven theories like polygenesis.
>>17906853from utilitarian perspective, its irrelevant what stupid shit its based on, only if it works and has positive value. People can create in-groups based on anything, like left toe size or favourite sports team
In modern times, you need to impose agency on many states at once to prevent catastrophes like WMD use and natural catastrophes to protect humanity and the planet as a whole. The problem with globalism is how it's done, not its global scope. In principle, you could have world institutions and world culture without problems with wrong ideas of equality, excessive migration and destruction of cultures but the globalism we happen to have is applied differently by the people involved in it. Politicians often learn how to settle debates and act civilly when they go to highly respected law schools but once they're in a position, they fight to win and hold onto dogmas when they collectively have a choice to do otherwise. It could just be that there are so many elites that it becomes impossible to change the status quo.
The USA is the best proof that being racist is a bad idea despite all the memes about things like a white and yellow or black and brown alliance every racial group has a deep distrust of the other and with worsening economic conditions race relations will plummet
>>17906853And contemporary racism is based on the behaviour of minorities on white countries.
>>17906884Not at all. It mostly hinges on obsessive fixationw and creepy/goonersque narratives on top of a weird "You owe me for not calling you a slur" dynamic.
>>17906778>Africa follows this model, and it's a shithole. Europe follows the opposite model,In what way? Seems extremely vague lol
>>17906853No it's not, it's based on aesthetics
>>17906767 (OP)Many popular arguments for racism are utilitarian. Like one of the most common ones is that aid to Africa should be cut because Africans are a burden. Then, the arguments about browns being a fiscal burden in Europe. Also the argument that some races make big fancy buildings and other make mudhuts, so it's more utilitarian to get rid of non-fancy races
>>17906867The problem with the US is that they weren't racist enough. If they were truly racist, they wouldn't have allowed hundreds of thousands of black slaves to be imported into the country.
>>17907129Racism is often about eliminating the options of other people's and boxing them into one's system of dominance.
