Mentioning Hittites makes Greeks seethe with great fury because it reminds them that Greeks will never be native to Anatolia and that they invaded, genocided and oppressed the actual native Anatolians for centuries.

Hittites originated there, but their ancestors came from somewhere else and mixed with the locals who lived there before them. So did Anatolian Greeks though.

Hittites did not 'originate' from Greece.

It wasn't the Greeks because they failed to defeat native Anatolians. It was the Romans were defeated them and it was effectively colonisation of the region as well as military force destroying their societies to make it work. The Isaurians didn't 'become' Greek until their society was obliterated by Anastasius and they were made to assimilate. They just had the luck of being the last holdout of native peoples.

Greek here. I don’t give a shit about “Hittites”. Why do you call them that anyways? They were called Hatti and they called themselves something like Neshians. Hittite is a mistaken identity taken from the jewish portion of the Bible and referring to a people who has never been historically identified and would have existed centuries after the Hatti disappeared.

NTA but it's just academic standard. We don't call Egypt Kemet or the Enclosure of Atum like they did themselves. We don't call Byzantium as Romania or even the people Romans. We call Akkad as Akkad instead of Agade. It's a weird thing to get hung up on.

Greeks changed a bit anatolian DNA. Still it was less impactful because they were closer genetically than fucking central asians that are ultra eurasian mutts.
They had the same kind of "european mediterranean but kinda near eastern" genetic makeup as modern greek islanders cypriots and arguably south italians and ashkie jews
Still greek anatolia was literally a beacon of science so it couldn't possibly have been that bad.
