Monogamy is a feminine trait and the more patriarchal a society is the more likely polygyny is instituted btw. We are on a history board, not r9k. Societies not stratified by gender such as hunter-gatherer ones have basically total monogamy, and the few semi-matriarchal societies that exist also are monogamous. In non-patriarchal societies the rate of men who reproduce is around up to 80-90%. The trait womej select for in these societies is also more likely to be kindness and willingness to share resources alongside athleticism (for hunting and shit) rather than things like dominance or status (since social status doesn't really exist in hunter gatherer societies). Cheating happens obviously from both sides, but the point is more around the rate of men who reproduce.
On the other hand in patriarchal societies it often drops down to as little as 30% or even less, with dominant men monopolizing access to women, marrying several and keeping large numbers of concubines. You can look all of this up freely btw.
