They reckon that Samaritans were there since ancient times. Genetic studies show that Palestinians and Druze and Mihrazi Jews cluster close to them, and then Ashkenazi are about halfway to Italian/Mediterranean populations.

This would be backed up by the history, the Palestinians were originally Jews who became Christian in the first century or so after Christ, and then later converted to Islam.
