They would have been significantly more prosperous, educated, literate, socially equal and civilized if they had had a communist revolution in the 20th century.
Medieval superstition and societal poison like casteism should have been removed violently.

True, unfortunately for most of the 3rd world the choice is either a brutal dictatorship that forces the subhumans to poo in the loo and maintain some semblance of law and order or a chaotic lawless shithole with a leadership that only cares about filling its own pockets.

It's cool to look back in retrospect and bemoan the Cultural Revolution, but this is what happens when the "culture" persists. It wasn't about statues or clothes.

Dharma - broadly refers to a cosmic order, one's duty, and the correct way of living.

Caste system is ancient bullshit, Buddha pointed this out 2500 years ago. Just a form of institutional racism. "I cant touch a Dalit, my karma!" It might have stemmed from the Indo-Aryans not wanting racemixing now that I think about it.

Yet they racemixed anyway lol

I can see you haven't read any Indian history lol. Nehru was literally a socialist, he pushed for a highly centralised government, wanted to abolish ethnically-defined states, officially abolished casteism, nationalised the temples, and encouraged secularism. But you can't just impose that kind of stuff unless you're willing to genocide people, these things are very deep-rooted, and the cultural multiplicity of India makes it too difficult to create a truly centralised homogenous nation.

It was only much later with the BJP that you get political Hinduism that officially supported the supersitions and casteism, but that's outside the time scope of this board.

Indian politics was dominated by socialists from 1947 to well into the 21st century

I didn't say he did a good job at it lol, but assigned places for dalits was specifically to combat casteism. It's not like he thought dalits were superior.

If casteism or Hindu superstition was India’s biggest problems Pakistan would be out-performing it. It’s certainly an issue but hardly the reason India is in the absolute state it is in today.

Given this thread claims communism is the answer, it’s ironic that Pakistan was indeed outperforming India until the combination of Zia and the end of the License Raj. Liberalization outperformed planned economies, at least in the case of South Asia.
