Why are American history discussions like this?
In both discussions of real and alt-historical warfare, a consistent thing I see is that depending on who you ask, the USA is either made out to be:
>An omnipotent super-nation that has never lost and can never be beaten or fall short of godlike exceptionalism in any past, present, future, or speculative conflict.
or
>The weakest, most corrupt, stupid, fattest country ever, it has never won anything, it has never accomplished anything, it's not even a major power and can only catastrophically blunder every past, present, future, and speculative conflict.
Everywhere I go, online or off, this is the kind of shit I see. Almost never will I see more "centrist" takes, it's almost always America Numba Wan or America Baaad and nothing in between. Why?
