>August 16, 1945: Just one day after Japan announced its surrender (Aug 15), Stalin sent a message to Truman suggesting the Red Army occupy the northern half of Hokkaidō up to the Rumoi–Kushiro line.
>Truman flatly rejected Stalin’s proposal in mid-August, before Soviet forces could attempt a landing.
>Logistically, the Soviet Pacific Fleet simply lacked the landing craft and escort strength for an opposed invasion, especially with the U.S. Navy dominating the waters around Japan.
1. it was only partial part of Hokkaido up to the Rumoi–Kushiro line.
2. 2.5% of Japan’s population total lived in Hokkaido up to the Rumoi–Kushiro line and the Kuril Islands
And your argument makes no sense, it wasn't the bombs that stopped that, it was him rejected Stalin's office and the Soviet navy not having the landing craft for it.
