What if instead of trying to conquer the world, the Nazis and Fascist Italy just kinda chilled and hung out like Francoist Spain?
Anonymous No.17922985 >>17923303
They would probably turn out like Francoist Spain.

They would've collapsed. Hitler literally needed war because the fixing economy shit is just myth. He just delayed the problem.

Collapse from what? Nazi Germany had lower national debt than what most countries have nowadays.

The debt of the Versailles treaty and WW1 reparations?

They didn't even pay those.
Francoist Spain was in tatters after the civil war, spent the 1940's and 50's building autarky with barely any economic growth and didn't COLLAPSE.
You are regurgitating complete idiocy without thinking for a second.

Spanish economy was Africa-tier up until the 1970s.

And Franco never went on a massive budget deficit for military spending like Germany did.

>what is strategy
yeah, you lull them into a false sense of security until you have the means to obliterate them without a long costly world war

it is like ethnic minorities, they tell you "oh yeah we share your liberal meritocratic nontribalist values" then the moment they have the majority vote all that goes straight in the trash

Then it wouldn't exist. That's like asking what the USSR would have been like if they were capitalists. Nazism was a reaction to geopolitical turmoil that justified itself by claiming Germany had to be demilitarized and punished after WWI. Hitler also used the the threat of bolshevism to thinly veil his revanchist land grabs.

We are left with the problem of the Nazis only ever actually fighting defensive wars.
If they were expansionist, well, why didnt they expand?
They had an edge over everyone in 1936 yet they didnt use it, they allowed Britain to stall for time against them, they allowed the USSR to build up, they even allowed France to invade them before retaliating.
If they were expansionist militarists, why were they totally caught off guard?
>they were le dumb
not an answer, youre biased against the Nazis because they called you subhuman and then proved it by kicking your shit in with an insane KDR.

Are you joking? Germany was so ill prepared for war in 1938 that Hitlers generals were plotting a coup if he went to war against the Czechs. Even in 39 after a month long battle with Poland they were completely out of shells.

Spain (1969): According to the IMF’s Finance & Development (1972), Spain had a GNP per capita of $820 in 1969

United Kingdom (1969): World Bank data (via IndexMundi) report the UK’s GDP per capita at $2,101

France (1969): For France, World Bank figures show GDP per capita of approximately $2,752
So the GDP per capita was two and a half times larger in the UK and over 3 times larger in France.

>Fascist Italy
Probably ends up just like Francoist Spain. Small chance they actually transition to the Corporatist economic model, and or the Syndicalist style democracy like what Fiume tried but fascist Italy most likely would have remained as a the failed, half revolutionary state it was historically
Anonymous No.17924141
Very probably Mussolini would've lost favor with his core of veterans who buoyed him into power. No wars means the military is not doing a whole lot and the expense of it starts to grate with the rest of society, and it would be an expense that Mussolini was directly responsible for and would be more or less forced to keep up despite increasing resistance to it because he needed his military veterans to remain loyal.

Italy did not have a long history of unification, there were people alive who could remember when they had more autonomy. Mussolini had to keep people from thinking about that, but it's hard to do when his unified Italy is basically a welfare state for WW1 veterans that do nothing productive and don't add to the prestige of the nation.

What is your point? Britain and France had a larger GDP per capita than Spain in 1700, 1800, and 1900. It's almost like there's a pattern.
