Did American televangelists in the '70s and '80s actually think hard rock and metal music was the work of the Devil or was it just disliked because it was seen as competition for the attention of young people? One thing people have a hard time grasping about the 1970s is that a lot of stuff that is coded as more conservative now wasn't then. Like think about rodeos.
