Some of it is genuine faith, but a lot is just reactionary bullshit.

People clinging to tradition to own the libs or cope with a changing world. Christianity is declining overall, but the loudest ones are doubling down. Your resentment is valid. Many use religion as a cudgel, not a comfort. Stay skeptical.

Most of them goon to hentai tranny shit too.
They go through insane mental gymnastics in order to be antisemites that worship a jewish rabbi, jewish apostles, and the god of israel.

I grew up as a Roman Catholic in Latin America, and I can assure that there are lots of genuinely religious people who go to Roman Catholic churches here, but they almost always tend to be working-class people. I've never met anybody with a white-collar job who's a self-proclaimed Roman Catholic but doesn't also believe in karma or reincarnation or something else which is altogether incompatible with Roman Catholic Church dogma, and usually, the more educated people are, the less likely they are to be religious (with some exceptions, of course).
I feel like the big difference between genuinely devout Roman Catholics and TradLARPers is that genuinely devout Roman Catholics tend to be somewhat superstitious and don't necessarily have much knowledge of their faith outside of what they've learned during mass, but they always believe that everything that happens in the universe reflects God's will and that the most important is to be good unto one another and to love one another as God loves us.
Even though I'm an agnostic, I find this message of brotherly love to be much more heartfelt and credible than all of the "Enjoy Hell"-spouting and all of the theological debating I see on this board every day.

In my opinion (I'm atheist)

Christianity's decline is more related to how it has been changing over time to accommodate to culture so, Christianity today's just paganism at this point

I mean, all religions do this, but it's absurd with Christianity overall

I'm sure someone (a Christian) will read this and think "this idiot doesn't know what he's talking about", but it will refuse to actually follow the teachings or scripture unless it fits with its life style

So, yeah, Christianity is declining

I dont think Christians realize that real genuine christianity (the type that lasted a 1000 years) was vehemently against Adam Smith capitalism and democracization of knowledge. Which is funny that all the tranny leftists are against ai too saying "you cant just get information instantly! you need to learn to google fu!". which was word for word the exact type of complaints Catholics had about early printing press publications.

truly an odd group of people on both sides.

Sure, but is Christianity really dying out just because it is changing? It’s always been like this... mixing with local cultures and beliefs to survive.

> Christmas
December 25th was picked to match up with pagan festivals like Saturnalia and Yule. The whole tree thing, presents, big feasts? All borrowed from older traditions.

> Easter
The name comes from a Germanic goddess, Δ’ostre, and stuff like eggs and bunnies? Fertility symbols from way before Christianity showed up.

Even saints and churches got in on it. Lots of *christian* holy sites were just rebranded pagan shrines and deities.

Christianity kinda has always adapted to fit in. If it's shifting now, that's not necessarily decline... it is just doing what it is always done.

I look to it more like the Ship of Theseus

If you change every part of Christianity, is it still Christianity? Or just an imitation of it?

>>17928156

Not even in the 1st 1000 years, right after the crucifixion they were already changing things

The "youngest" Gospels contain more supernatural events in comparison to the oldest ones, it was a "Christian" Whisper. Even the Church admitted that they weren't sure how many and what the changes were through time, the criteria to decide the cannon was an appeal to popularity and "I think this character would said this"

If I remember well, a theory is:
Mark was the 1st written
Then "Q" (unknown source or sources, don't know if it was/were written or not)
Matthew uses Mark and Q as source
Luke uses Matthew and Mark as source, change the story to make it appealing to a Roman public
About John I don't remember

Depends how genuine it has to be before it counts. Its almost entirely a political thing, a reaction against mostly non-christian third world migration into historically christian countries, and a secular culture that got taken over by wokism.

the thing about this whole debate is that the actual line between many "christians" and nones in the US is often mainly a matter of sociopolitical labeling. most nones would still profess to believe in a soul, some sort of spiritual side to the world and often even the notion of some sort of deity, they just often reject the christian label for doctrinal or political reasons. on the other hand many people identifying as christian rarely pray or even bother going to church but still identify as culturally christian. so traditional markers of religiosity are down across the board regardless of what you choose to identify as religiously
with that said, I know pew did detect some modest revival in traditional religious markers among the youngest cohort they were tracking 18-24, though the caveat is they've only been polling them for 2 years. but there does seem at a minimum to be a relative stabilizing of the religious situation rather than the continuing decline of christian affiliation seen over much of the past 2 decades

One thing I don't understand about Tradcaths is...the Catholic Church has pretty much always been a force of progressivism. Hell, even TODAY the split between Catholics and Protestants is largely a liberal/conservative split, with Protestants leaning more towards being conservative and Catholics leaning more liberal. Hell, look at what El Salvador is doing, it took them becoming majority Protestant for them to take harsh measures against the cartels because the Catholic Church had advocated for liberation theology and being soft on crime.

Most Tradcaths in Latin America are upper middle class though, at least the ones who believe the "west is dying", Pope Francis was the antichrist or Judgment Day is coming

no lol
>Hell, look at what El Salvador is doing, it took them becoming majority Protestant for them to take harsh measures against the cartels because the Catholic Church had advocated for liberation theology and being soft on crime.
this is the opposite of progress desu, having tons of shitty little feudal lords/mob bosses is regressive

I don't know much about theology (because I'm not a faggot) but the end result of most protestant states was major increases in efficiency and reduction of waste. Firstly this was due to dissolving retarded production systems like monasteries and their monopolies, having separate church law for clergymen, etc. And then this momentum carried over into things like abolishing the horribly inefficient common land system, or dissolving guilds. This is say nothing of the actual idea of the Protestant work ethic.
But it's also because once you nationalize the spiritual, you stop having fifth columnists every time your geopolitical goals aren't in line with Pope's. You can't really have a nation in a catholic country.

because of all this, places like Sweden went from backwards shithole to major military hegemon, regularly winning battles with 1:4 odds against them.
and that was with fucking SWEDES. If France had actually become a protestant country, I have no doubt they would have completely dominated Europe forever.

I refer to 'progressivism' in the modern sense. Fighting for minority rights and such, opposing militarization, etc.
