Rather, there is nothing that can prevent it from returning on a large scale. Abrahamism cannot survive Modernity, only abstract monotheist philosophies and neopaganism can coexist with the science that is required for advanced technological society, and the former will simply degenerate into emanationist schemes with divinities more worthy of worship

i find religion, science, and philosophy all increasingly unable to explain the nature of being. It's probably just incomprehensible to us. Schizoidism is the future

Know a tree by its fruits. Scientific materialism creates all existing technology. All other doctrines create YouTube videos, perhaps a scripture or a few philosophers every generation or so at best. Materialists get to shape the world for the foreseeable future, I don't make the rules.

Increase Hindu and Buddhist influence in the west with them incorporating prรฉ-christian euro gods into their frameworks to ease the acceptance, the whole we always believe in the same gods and is just a difference in philosophy
From there some group pull a protestant reform and start and a Sola Edda's/Plato/Homer movement

A complete reinterpretation of the Qur'an, which calls the divine by many names, and says messengers were sent to all nations (consider the implications if most nations were historically pagan and not monotheistic). Coupled with philosophical arguments for polytheism, of course. "Tawhid" means unification btw.
The West is already re-paganized. Yahwehists are a minority these days, with the West full of cults and practices matching Antiquity. To really drive the point home what would be needed is the revival of the rituals and festivals, perhaps as a performance art

Materialism also leads to degeneracy. We can't put a man on the moon anymore, but with enough Science(tm) (not actual science) we can put a man in the women's bathroom. Enjoy the dystopia you created.
>We can't put a man on the moon anymore
we have the technological capacity for that, we just don't have a government or billionaire interested in paying to build a rocked for that right now
> we can put a man in the women's bathroom
that is fruit of an utopian, and therefore idealistic, ideology not from materialism

most of the cults in the west are just christian sects
the vast majority of theist in the west believe in the abrahamic god and in a set of abrahamic scriptures
>>17932691 >the vast majority of theist in the west believe in the abrahamic god and in a set of abrahamic scriptures
not all you stupid clown, how illiterate are you?

no, paganism was always predicated on worshiping the forces of nature to try and convince them to be nice to people. that's why even ancient greek philosophers abandoned it, they came to understand that those forces are just forces not conscious beings that can be appeased
>>17932696 >Vast majority means "all"
NTA but they're right about the US, maybe not so much Europe where people have no religion (agnostic? Atheist? Who knows) more frequently. They definitely aren't returning to pre-Christian religion though.
>>17932713 >ancient greek philosophers abandoned it
they didn't, at most they held non materialistic interpretations holding the gods as either the metaphysical bases of existence, the initial points of all interlinking causal chains, the spiritual essences of reality and so on
Go read Iamblichus

The Old Testament, or actually maybe just the pre New Testament part. Talks about feeding the poor a ton. Guess they can eat in work camps. If they're healthy enough they should be working. In hopes they can get a job and afford to move there, God willing.
>>17932734 >they didn't
I didn't say they became atheists, they stopped being pagans. they shifted towards worshipping some higher force behind nature, and some narrowed it down to a single ultimate higher power.
>>17932743
No, they kept being pagans
they believed in the gods, talked about their nature and practiced all forms of rituals from the Eleusinian Mysteries, to sacrifices and theourgรญa
The gods were never just "the forces of nature" and they were not "narrowed it down to a single ultimate higher power"
Having more abstract and complex theologies didn't make them stoping being pagan, what made they pagan was the adherence to non-abrahmaic form of spirituality
>>17932757 >what made they pagan was the adherence to non-abrahmaic form of spirituality
lol, lmao even unless you're intentionally arguing from christian theology

Actually converting people. The reason Christianity and Islam took much of the world is because unlike historical paganism, Christians and Muslims were actually hellbent on converting the entire world.
If neopagans seek to have their faith become global (especially since a lot of normies arenโt aware of it apparently), then they should actually try to mass convert people.
>>17931604 (OP)
A total collapse of organized religion (like Christianity or Islam) + a desperate search for meaning in a chaotic world might revive paganism. But modern paganism is mostly LARPers and hippies... no real power. Unless some warlord starts sacrificing to Odin for clout, it's staying niche.
>>17931687 >Trump is doing a pretty good job of it
it was a rotting religion way before trump, and on both ends of the political spectrum. the right wing christian churches are zionist puppets and the left wing ones want to replace you with gays and mexicans. the message is clear, either conform to noahide law or be destroyed
>>17935016 >noahide law >not to worship idols, not to curse God, not to commit murder, not to commit adultery or sexual immorality, not to steal, not to eat flesh torn from a living animal, and the positive commandment to establish courts of justice
Sorry I worship what Hebrews would call an idol, I don't "curse god" I just don't believe in the Jewish god...the rest seem reasonable albeit the part about flesh from a living animal seems oddly specific.
