You have access to unlimited food and clean water, light on demand, full legal protection, effortless sanitation, a warm home and a bed, miraculous medicine, artificial immunity to mankinds most devastating diseases, dont have to worry about predators or bandits or a foreign invader trying to burn down your home for praying the wrong way or abducting you into slavery, can file bankruptcy instead of selling yourself into slavery and have access to technology that is even beyond your own comprehension.
But yeah its so terrible because faggots are being faggots. That has never been a thing before, its exclusive to today.

> The Blackpill: Time and Place Wonโ€™t Save You

Unless you alter your internal framework (via cognitive restructuring, pharmacological intervention, or radical acceptance), no external change (time travel, wealth, or societal collapse) will grant lasting relief. Happiness is not a a place, an era, or a condition; it is a biological, genetical and cognitive constant.

> The Hedonic Treadmill
Decades of psychological research (Brickman & Campbell, 1971; Kahneman et al., 1999) confirm that humans adapt to both fortune and misfortune, returning to a baseline level of happiness. A phenomenon known as hedonic adaptation. Winning the lottery or becoming paralyzed shifts happiness temporarily, but within years (sometimes months), people regress to their genetic set point of happiness.

> Genetics Over Circumstance
Twin studies (Lykken & Tellegen, 1996) suggest that 50-80% of subjective well-being is heritable. External conditions ( wealth, status, even historical era) account for a shockingly small portion of long-term happiness. A miserable person in 2024 would likely be miserable in 1824 or 3024, because their disposition shapes perception more than their environment.

> The Cope of Temporal Escape
Many fantasize that living in a different time (muh 'I belong in the Renaissance') would resolve their dissatisfaction. Romanticizing the past ignores suffering universals (disease, violence, boredom, etc). If your brain filters reality through negativity now, it will do so in any era.

There is more than that.
Christians believe humans fell from Paradise. Ancient Greeks believed in past graceful ages. Vedic religion tells us about Yuga Cycle, we had been in Satya Yuga (Golden Age) before and we will eventually reach it again.
Modern people barely address known out-of-place artifacts and other signs of possible past high technology civilizations.

Yes, a lot of civilizations also have some kind of Golden Age myth. But I consider that separate and in a way prior to any other recorded historical era, because it's a myth.

People have wanted to go back since ~1910. The trend hasn't changed much since. Before that everyone thought we were moving foward. So things have been getting worse for about a century.

Myths are subjects of history too.
Conventional history knows about dark ages coming after great civilization demise like Bronze Age Collapse, Fall of Ancient Rome, Mongol conquests. People knew for a fact they had it better before. And these are cases of relatively sudden event, not counting slow centuries-long decline.
My take is we don't know if historians of the future would tag our times as an era of local minimum, steady growth, a prelude to global apocalypse or a first step to post-scarcity Star Trek gay communism utopia.
Anonymous No.17933607
>>17933587
My point was strictly about what current people think about what came before them. And that generally, they think it was worse than what they have now.
People living in the post Roman "dark age" admired the Romans for certain things, but they also considered themselves as the more modern and better civilization.
Historians will paint ancient history in all kind of ways depending on their current view of the world, regardless of how people actually felt at the time.

Every material comfort can be provided but if the spirit is wanting then it is all meaningless. I enjoy innovations like modern dentistry and sanitation, they have been literal life savers at many points through out my life, but can it really make me any more ok with seeing the most vile degeneracy shoved in my face every day? More over, is everything we have in modernity a miracle? I don't think so, in fact I think a lot of our innovations are leaving us with immense technical debt, either due to ignorance or malice, and this is setting us up for a series of catastrophic series of events that will plunge us into a dark age. I also grasp that these innovations, some of which are guided by malice, can unleash unspeakable horrors and I fear that man does not have the responsibility to properly use these things yet.

If your spirit is broken blame yourself for being a spiritlet. Degeneracy was always here, for the fuck sake Jesus himself preached to prostitutes, instead of being buckspiritbroken like whiney losers of thoday who are seething about marvel movies, video games, and pop music. Be the man you were created to be, or remain a degenerate, but do so actively by choice, instead of passively by being born into a culture and time. You chose this. You chose to be a degenerate.

A strong spirit is not softened by the world's decay. It is hardened by it. This opposition is your forge, and the pressure you feel is what transforms a common soul into a weapon of purpose. You were meant to stand as a pillar, not to seek shelter. Embrace the fire. Let it strengthen you, not break you. Your fortitude is found in the struggle, not in its absence. A weak spirit seeks a greenhouse, a strong one is tempered in the fire. Do not ask for softer opposition. Ask for a stronger spirit. Rise, harden, and stand. Comfort makes you weak. Resistance makes you mighty.

I can pretty safely say that demoralization is not total, but wanting to change that trend is a good thing and does not make one spiritually weak. At the end of the day maybe like ten or so people need to die, now obviously getting to them is the hard part, but cut the head off the snake and the body will die. Maybe snake is the wrong analogy, parasite is a more apt comparison. If the host's body can be convinced to activate its immune system then the disease afflicting us can be excised. So yeah, I will keep pointing out how gay and cringe modernity is, I will use appeals to tradition in doing so as that is the immune system. If that makes chauvinistic and spiritually weak as you term it, then I do not care what you think.

I would never ask for a frugal life of subsistence farming and animal husbandry, or anything similar, over what I have here. But yes, I entirely agree with the idea that you would probably have satisfaction comparable to what you have easy access to today. It's absolute BS when people pretend that having their immediate needs fulfilled is some sort of gift from heaven above in terms of ultimate satisfaction. Can you imagine coming home from selling hogs at market and your wife and dad and uncle or whatever are like holy shit great job I'll get the good beer from the basement and you coast off of that sale for eight years while watching your kids grow up?
