I get into huge fights and arguments with normgroids over this. If you canmt for whatever reason socialize, they want you DEAD. They don’t want you adapting, gardening, raising chickens or cows on your own. They don’t want you “hobbying” your way on in life.

The former is unironically called autism. Humans are social animals and the impulse to share a community around something people find important or captivating is a very basic instinct. It can be eradicated by shaming and distrust and it can be missing due to autism and autism-related illnesses, but it's definitely not the default position.
