It feels that way now but if the country were to collapse then over the years people will feel a yearning for it.
The US doesn't have sectional nationalisms anyway, so there will linger a distinctly "American" identity --- if I had to guess, any successor states will still celebrate the 4th of July, still have figures like Washington or Lincoln ingrained into their cultural memory, and would still be able to recognize in themselves a continuity from whatever they were in the USA
