If Napoleon was just using stuff everybody knew about why was he successful? Because knowing strategy and tactics by itself doesn't make you a good commander, it's applying strategy and tactics effectively that distinguishes good commanders from bad. Napoleon possessed uncanny intuition and almost prescient awareness on the battlefield that allowed him to outmaneuver his opponents so deviously it looked like he had rehearsed the battle beforehand. Napoleon's best skill was probably his ability to read his opponent, get in their head, and figure out what they were likely to do, and then basically manipulate the enemy general like a puppet.

That is a rare skill, there's probably not even 5 generals in history who were that skilled at knowing their enemy.

This but unironically. Einstein owes De Broglie, Tesla, Planck, Maxwell, and Hamilton a yuge apology for puréeing their ideas in with his own and refusing to acknowledge the academic genealogy of the theory of relativity that goes all the way back to ancient Greece and India.

You're maybe idolzing his battlefield achievements a bit to much.
Yes, he was a great general, and probably one of the best we've known. But he had a fair bit of luck and he was relentlessly agressive, fully utilizing the French army in its manpower/morale advantage and letting his opponents fail into him.
There are several battles where Napoleon got baited, or it went poor for him, in part due to him being overly agressive and perhaps cocky.
His battle vs Archduke Charles and ofcourse Borodino where he almost lost his entire army trying to attack the Russians in a huge defensive position with Guard reseves, people say this one was very close, but I don't think Napoleon had much chance, and shouldn't have attacked, or atleast been quicker to retreat once realizing the Russians aren't moving.

I didn't say he made no mistakes or had no flaws, only that he possessed uncanny intuition and the supreme skill of knowing his enemy better than practically any other general we know of. His victories were not merely a result of outnumbering his opponent and grinding them down, it was as you say a matter of "letting his opponents fail into him" which is how laymen typically see military genius because they underestimate the difficulty of appearing to do nothing wrong while conducting battle on a massive scale.
