In all practical terms, yes they are. Surely some people are still out there with some small percentage of genetic continuity with them but it is not enough for anyone to claim they are those people.

The “original” Jews were ancient north Eurasian merchants. As they migrated from hyperborea to the Middle East through India they adopted cultures and myths to arrive in Israel then moxed with the natives. Then the Bronze Age collapse happened and other groups like Greeks and Egyptians that fled into the hills with them also mixed to create the ancient Hebrews. Then you know the rest, Roman’s smacked them they flee to Europe and breed with the natives there to become modern Ashkenazis. So yes the ancient Hebrew are extinct but that hardly matters because what defines a Hebrew is always changing

There never were any "Ancient Hebrews". Their entire history is ret-con, Alexandrian, fanfic pastiche. It's as sloppy as it is Semitic.

None of the "Patriarchs" could read or write "Hebrew", so they're out.

We have virtually no "Hebrew" outside of various superstitious texts. No grocery lists. No tax records. No nothing.

To this day, no "Hebrew" can even define what a "Hebrew" is/was, nor an "Israelite", nor a "Jew". They're just fake names for fake peoples with fake histories. The original cosplay, LARP squad.
