Why has it become the entire mainstream establishment position to completely white wash the reality that much of central and eastern europe were basically Nazi collaborator rump states in the interwar period with populations who actively engaged in the carrying out of the holocaust?
People always pretend Poland, Balts, Finland, Yugos etc were didndunuttin victims of the USSR, when in reality these countries were just outright slaughtering minorites, especially Jews, and often being aggressive landgrabbers.

Everyone knows the West rehabilitated former Nazis in West Germany and covered up the extermination camps downgrading them into concentration camps. Only the camps liberated by Soviet forces saw earnest investigation.

Eastern Europe had bigger problems to face than Nazis. So they used Nazis for resources. To omit this motivation or to even imply ideological alignment is a complete falsehood really only peddled by Kremlin and useful idiots in the West.

From what I can tell, the situation was more weak states and peoples with national aspirations surrounded by predatory, hungry big powers. I was reading about the 1944 Slovak uprising which was pretty interesting. It really caught the Germans by surprise.
