How do you cope with the fact that "high-church" Christianity is rapidly dying out across the world, and being replaced by Evangelicals and Charismatics who babble in tongues?

It's not unique to the church. Leaders are losing grip. I think we're entering a cultural and intellectual era similar to pre-Christianity.

My autistic brother fell for this strain of Christianity. I wouldn't really consider him bright. Everything he knows about Christianity either comes from YouTube Shorts, Christian "Influencers" or ChatGPT. Especially ChatGPT he would constantly pull it up because he's unable to think for himself.
If I ask him what Martin Luther's 95 theses are or what "Solafide" means, he gives me a confused look and tells me "I don't need to know that because through christ I am saved!"
The future of Christianity looks pretty grim.

Evangelicals/charismatics go out of their way to proselytise, Catholics don't. I recall one US study of Catholic converts where the overwhelmingly majority of converts reported that the priest that saw them through the process were apathetic towards whether they completed it or not.

Eventually you're gonna the way of the mainline Protestant churches and either die out or just become a social club for FOB immigrants.

both are retarded to be honest

also what value do you get from traditional mass anyway. it's just the exact same routine every sunday

it was inevitable given how often the church got involved in numerous corrupt governments that destroyed their reputation in the area, the real question is how long until those Evangelical churches fall into the same trap

You say that like Catholics know some shit about their church's doctrines other than that they have to hand their asses over to their local priest once a month lol

You're right, obviously we need to RETVRN to people just ticking the 'catholic' box at census time regardless of the fact the only people that turn up to mass regularly are old people and filipinos

is this graph supposed to imply the average brazillian catholic is any better than a brazillian pentecostal?

They still worship the same God, it's just different aspects of faith. Nobody should be getting bothered by it.

Same way early Christians coped with the proto-Orthodox killing them off and persecuting them into submission

When any religion finally gets big enough, it becomes exceedingly difficult if not impossible for central leadership to maintain ideological conformity

Even Catholics hate other Catholics for being the wrong type of Catholic

evangelicals and similar types of Christians tend to believe the Earth is flat and think evolution was invented by the devil because it doesm't gel with the bible.
Despite that, they also believe in a lot of unbiblical things, like circumscision and the rapture. The last one I think is important and I'll elaborate on it. Almost every evangelical i meet thinks Jesus is going to personally come get them in the rapture during their life time and leave all the bad sinners to suffer hell on Earth. Maybe this is just an American thing, I don't know about Evangelicals and Charismatics in other countries, but here in the USA almost every evangelical I meet is chomping at the bit for armageddon to happen. The ones with money tend to go on vacations to Israel all the time, I think they care about Israel more than their own country. Basically, no evangelicals I know actually care about a future for their country or children because most think that Jesus is coming back in their life time.

The fact that you are conflating Bible-believing Evangelicals with Charismatic demoniacs demonstrates how little you understand about the doctrines of each faith, as well as how much you hate Jesus Christ. Enjoy Hell.

there is no difference, go to any evangelical church and you'll find people speaking in tongues like charismatics.

I'm sorry for saying this and I'm sure there are definitely some smart ones, but I think it's an intelligence thing. I went to the Assemblies Of God up the street as a lifelong Catholic who is doing some self-exploration of the Christian denominations around me (not out of any malice, I'm curious how other churches operate) and everything about their worship felt low IQ. Started with a giant concert, then turned into a travelling preacher rambling about how Transformers (yes, the cartoon) are like the trinity, then some complaints about people not reading the bible enough. They're also really desperate to lure you in, just for showing up once in the back, they made me join a mailing list (I used an alias)

You can say what you will about Catholic ritualism being elevated above religious experience, but I don't think I'll ever go to a Catholic church that's blatantly making half the service about a strange metaphor between an 80's cartoon and something like the holy trinity

I'd rather see a growth of traditional Puritan worship.

How precisely are you defining "evangelical"?
