according to all pre-christian belief systems held by "whites", they understood themselves to be the literal descendants of "gods" and that those "gods" were embodied collectively by all of their people/race/phenotype, and that such people were animated by the "spirit" of that "god" which had become sewn into the flesh of the god's people.

All people who have a "spirit" are of a "god" and according to christian theology, they are all called to join one body together because all "spirit" is of one source, one root source of all such "gods" the God of gods.

So most did, their "spirits" becoming collectively the "Holy Spirit" which animates all the people who collectively form the living "body" of the one true "God".

once you accept all that, then you can understand what the "devil" is, it is simply a "god" of people who have not yet taken their place in the body of the God of gods.

Are you going by a Gnostic gospel or something? Pretty clear that from the canonical gospels that Jesus was killed for blasphemy (the victimless crime), I mean... claiming he was God, forgiving the sins of people (something only God can do in the Old Testament), basically an open and shut case if you are a Hebrew. There's certainly a lot more nuance than that. Are we talking about the Jesus posited by the Nicene Creed? Or the laughing Jesus of the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas? Or the Mormon Jesus, brother of Lucifer? Or is Jesus just a man adopted to be the Son of God and not literally god himself? Arianism?

No one deliberately chooses Satan either, not even Satanists. The vast majority calling themselves that are edgy atheists, LaVeyan Satanists.

You can also subscribe to a Dharmic religion or none at all. This not because you hate Jesus, but rather you find other religions or materialism more compelling.

Of course, the immature Christian will see everyone who isn't their particular sect of Christianity as "choosing Satan."
