Communism sounds great in theory but it will always fail in practice because it's an insanely naive utopian system. The idea that the "workers of the world" will ever meaningfully own the means of production is a fantasy when an autocratic bureaucracy is always necessary to underpin that enterprise. How did that work out for the millions of Chinese and Russian peasants who starved? Were they really "empowered" by that system compared to what they had experienced before? Of course not. Because it failed.
