Lithuania wasn’t gullible and only collaborated with Germany in return for autonomy and the efforts to create a Lithuanian SS unit we’re a failure. Generaplan Ost wasn’t publicly known and they weren’t building German settlements like they were in Poland and Ukraine and let Lithuania have autonomy during the war years so nobody could have anticipated that.

The USSR made Lithuania an ethnostate removing minorities and expanded its borders, there was high fertility, truthfully it wasn’t that bad other than the general inferiority of Communism as an economic policy but people in this country are brainwashed just as much as Russians, Americans, or anyone else. They were not even culturally Lithuanian and could not even speak the language. Those cities were a multicultural motley of Jews Poles Russians and Germans with barely any Lithuanians besides in the surrounding towns and countryside. Polish and Yiddish were spoken more than Lithuanian which was considered a language of peasants. Nobody considered them Lithuanian, neither did they themselves. It was a great thing to put an end to that and make them ethnically and culturally Lithuanian again, yeah I am glad the Poles and Litwaks were removed. Did you look up the rural population? Lithuanian's are probably over 99% outside of the major cities. Other Baltic countries, Finland and even cities like St Petersburg and the Black Sea had similar demographics for the major coastal cities.
