I'm a Japanese guy who actually goes to the local Buddhist temple on Sundays. I don't really like Hollywood hippies tying to educate the public on what Buddhism is.

Not a jap or any type of oriental but Buddhism is a more authentic religion than Shintoism which was made up in the 1800's and involved throwing away 90% of animist practices and leaving only those that preached obedience to the state and meekness behind. In a way it's like Hinduism which was never codified but when it was, alot was made up to try and make it more cohesive, granted even the jeets did that hundreds of years before the japs
