It's all such a fucking scam. You're born into a system that's designed to make you suffer from the get-go, suffering and deterioration are built into the core of it. From the second you exist you're limited, suffocated, and shoved into a losing game where you're just a slowly rotting piece of meat. You have to fight and claw against everyone else because that's the only way to exist, constantly hurting or being hurt. And the worst part is you're completely, utterly alone in it all because no one can ever truly understand anyone else, we're all just isolated consciousnesses trapped in our own heads. The entire ride from birth to death is just one long terminal decline. Life doesn't have a meaning you're supposed to find, it's a fundamentally broken structure and pretending it's a gift is the ultimate cope.

I wouldn't claim to know. But Buddhism describes diverse worlds, some that could be mistaken for heaven, gods who live for aeons (but like all beings are subject to birth and death even if they live a VERY long time), hell worlds where suffering is much worse than here, and of course you could end up an animal on this planet or one of the innumerable planets just in our universe. Being born a human is said to be very fortunate.

Was just reading a passage that described how if you piled up the skeletons from all your previous bodies, you'd end up with a pile as large as a mountain. That's how many aeons you've been subject to the cycle of birth and death, and how important for Buddhists it is to seek liberation. If you think your current life is bad, just imagine how much you've suffered in the past, and how much more is to come in the future if you don't do something about it.

My life is great and I’m glad I’m alive. When contemplating the nihilist thought experiment (can’t remember if it was Nietzsche) of how terrifying it might be if this were a cycle destined to repeat over and over again, it fills me with reassurance, not terror. And I’ve suffered through some shit. I’m still glad I’m here despite what I’ve gone through. I’d do it all over again without a second thought. The good times well outweigh the suffering and the good times are such gifts knowing what could be; and, the suffering has only made me stronger and more capable. It sounds like you’re just a fag without a spine, wasting away alone in your neet nest. Life is about how you live it. Go out and create some good times and it’s really not that bad.

Gautama Buddha tried that, to an extreme degree. Was basically a skeleton, you could feel his spleen. But this wasn't ideal, as he didn't have the energy to focus on meditation. Thus, he decided to eat a meal a woman donated (leading to his ascetic followers to leave him) and follow the "middle path" between the extremes of ascetecism and hedonism.

A good place to start is the Four Noble Truths, which lead into to the Noble Eightfold Path. Unless you plan on becoming a monk, I recommend the Pure Land method, which doesn't rely solely on your own power by calling upon the name of Amitabha Buddha. He is said to have created what is translated as a Pure Land (literally "Buddha sphere") where practitioners can be reborn when they die and in this realm there is no suffering and it is easy to reach enlightenment. This school also happens to be the most popular form of Mahayana Buddhism although also somewhat obscure in the West, which has been more keen on Zen/Chan studies.

I had started writing a post about how I disagree with you when I noticed you're actually onto something. There is indeed a system out here that is a scam, that shoves you into a losing game and that makes you suffer. And that trap of a system is exactly this:

I completely agree with you, Anon. As long as you stick to either (or both) of those two mildly contradictory reductions, your life becomes a painful caricature. So I suggest not doing that.
