it is impossible to argue that what happened to the germans after WW2 was not a genocide. the eastern bloc systemically removed germans from areas they had inhabited for hundreds of years, areas where they were the supermajority of that area's population, and replaced them with slavs. the definition of genocide laid out by the man who coined the term, Raphael Lemkin, makes this clear.

if you disagree with this, i think you need to understand that genocide doesn't just mean killing. it can also be the destruction of culture, or intangible things like language. so for example you could say that if the US government decided to destroy every Korea church in america or make every Korean american speak only english, they would be doing a genocide of koreans. a genocide can kill 0 people and still be a genocide.

You never heard of ethnic cleansing? Genocide pretty much explicitly means killing or doing such actions to wipe out a race, I don't think giving France Loraine back really sells a genocide.

But also that map is kinda misleading because it assumes everyone only speaks one language. When I visited Strasbourg I was spoken to in German, French and English, so I know for a fact they weren't wiped out.
