I was speaking to this Berber White nationalist. He said Berbers were White and Levantines, Jews, and Arabs were nonwhite because they were Semites and Berbers were not (they are nonwhite but so are Berbers). He said Berbers are light and only dark when mixed with the Arabs.

I've heard such anecdotes often, some old-school anthropologists also believed that unmixed Berbers were white or even Nordic. I have no idea how such theories came to be, simply looking at North Afcrican vs Jews (and even most Levantines) it is clear that the latter are much "whiter" in every sense (lighter-skinned, less non-(West-)Eurasian admixture, more similar to Europeans). Berbers only get extra robustness which brings to mind CM/UP Europeans. Genetics confirms that Berbers and Arabs in North Africa are not radically different and both are far from any kind of Europeans.

at best you could say some of their ancestry may have come from europe, but that was much before the berber identity or language or genetic profile existed, berbers formed in north africa
