Yep its all the American's fault. Would have been a disaster if Russia ended up like Japan or West Germany.

The rest of the world would be better off because it would have meant Russians living like medieval serfs and starving by the millions as the union fell apart. The Americans who gave them all their industry saw a people who actively boasted about how they'd welch on all debts, and decided to take the gamble anyway on the off-chance Russia would actively work to improve itself.
