>be me
>at law school
>professor complains about how some classes are useless
>some roastie says :" yeah they should get rid of philosophy, it's good for nothing"
>everyone laughs and agrees
>even professor agrees and laughs
What the fuck happened to higher education? How is it acceptable to mock philosophy like that? If it wasn't for philosophy there would be no law and these retards are mocking it. It's so sad that anyone can get into college easily nowadays and stuff like this happens.

sounds like you're in some deep-south state school as evidenced by the behavior of everyone in this story including yourself

Normal person
>This is a bottle of water
Philosopher
>What we observe before us is not merely an item, but rather a profound constellation, a convergence of matter and void, of containment and contained, wherein the rigid polymeric boundaries serve as the liminal threshold between the external realm of appearances and the internal sanctuary of pure aqueous being. This vessel, in its very transparency, becomes a window into the soul of materiality itself, revealing the paradoxical nature of substance that simultaneously conceals and reveals its own essence. A microcosmic theater wherein the eternal dramas of presence and absence, form and formlessness, necessity and contingency play out their timeless philosophical ballet—a humble yet profound testament to the mysterious interplay between consciousness and the material world that surrounds and sustains our fragile human existence. This is thus the rationale for the veracity of Christian divinity, the primordial truth.

anon you seem to be misunderstanding the purpose of college
it is not the furthering of education and knowledge it is to line the pockets of the college board and get a worthless piece of paper to show for it

>How is it acceptable to mock philosophy like that
What else would you expect? Most the interesting bits have long since fucked off to form their owb discipline, and in my experience philosophers are easily the least competent group of post docs and professors in the "serious" humanities, and they got routinely shat on even when discussing pure philosophy by historians and litfags.
The single prettiest chick I've ever seen in my life was a philosophy student. Not even a step above above art hoes in brains, but goddamn was she hot

Anyone who believes this either doesn't have the IQ to understand philosophy and/or hasn't read any of it.
I've gone out of my way to read lots of these supposed bedrocks of Western Civilization and DESU they're all really fucking based.

Might be cringe to say but Nietzsche changed my life for the literally better in every conceivable way. "Thus Sprach Zarathustra," and, "Beyond Good & Evil," have become like the Bible to me. They're incredible.

Do you really think law comes from philosophy?
Because if you do are retarded. Law comes from people not wanting to be clubbed to death over a fireside row. Law existed before philosophy was codified and was created mostly without its input after philosophy became a subject of serious study

I would bet my life. If you had any strong mentors in your life, they would have or had been saying the same shit. Just less eloquently. Nietzsche said nothing new.

what they said is right, philosophy is pretty only attracts social rejects who need to cope with the fact they just don't get, mostly by spamming word salads to make it seem deeper than it really is

>What the fuck happened to higher education?
Its only worth the time and money if you get out of it the degree required to attain a license to practice engineering, law, or medicine.

everything else is worse than burning money
