It's impossible to know for certain if God exists. You just pick whatever you're most comfortable with.

You can't ever know for sure though if the feelings you have of religious certainty are born from genuine divine connection or mental illness or just plain delusion born from wishful thinking. The best you can do is try to push aside the uncertainty but there will still always be room for lingering doubt. After all, in every faith there are those followers who are 100% true believers.

If God exists then He can by exercise of His omnipotent power cause me to know with certainty that He exists. If God cannot do this, then He is not omnipotent. If He is not omnipotent, then He is not what theists mean by "God". Therefore, there are absolutely only 2 possibilities
1. If God exists, then it is possible to know with certainty that God exists, therefore agnosticism is false
2. It is certain that God does not exist, therefore agnosticism is false
Agnosticism is logically impossible
>You can't ever know for sure though if the feelings you have of religious certainty
It is moving the goalposts to speak of certainty with regard to knowledge and then speak of certainty as a feeling. Likewise positing an irrational feeling of doubt rather than objective doubt is moving the goalposts and irrelevant. The latter is possible to eliminate in this life, not necessarily the former.

Corpus callosotomy proves that the "self" doesn't exist, it's a fiction. One side of the brain does something the other cannot know, and then the other side confabulates a bullshit reason to explain why it did it in order to preserve the narrative of the self. Therefore souls cannot exist as a transcendental cohesive individual, and the mind arises bottom-up from more fundamental neural relationships that give rise to conscious processes and are patched together through the default mode network.

it's amazing how this isn't even a universal opinion among trained (majority does not mean conclusive) neuroscientists then. nor is the same tired "if I hit your head with a hammer you'll lose consciousness blah blah" argument even a refutation of the immateriality of the soul.

>Do you know you're not hallucinating the text into being?
Yes.
>Surely you would reqognize that people with an halicinatory mental state exists, so what makes you think you're not one of them?
1. I do not recognize that people with perpetual and universal hallucinatory mental states exist, such that they truly live in a fantasy world totally divested of connection to reality 2. Such a scenario as the revelation of God being hallucinated would require it to not exist, which is self-refuting and impossible

>Unnecessary for the argument to work
Absolutely necessary, since for example, if the scriptures were my hallucination, so too necessarily would be this conversation.
>but do people possessed by demons in the gospels count?
We essentially do not "know what it's like" to be possessed by a demon, so no
>Not the whole text, just parts of it
If only parts were a hallucination, then the parts which are real would be sufficient to refute this silly nonsense.

Wrong, the self is well understood to be a fiction. It's literally a no-go scenario, it's impossible for it to exist given the evidence from corpus callosotomy.

We create things we want, not things we dont want. The inverse of what we create is evil. If a being intentionally creates something that is precieved as evil by another being, that intentionally evil being is defined as Satan, and its energy is converted into another form that will create the good things we want.

Comfortable? That is the worst metric ever. If there is a God, they are either incompetent or a sadist... So why worship that? If there isn't, we are just smart apes making up meaning to feel better. Either way, the only based choice is to pick the option that pisses off the most people who think they have it all figured out.
