They have a small population with high density and frequent weather and climate crisis. Foreign companies don't pay well and have disportionate influence in tourism.

Jamaicans are pretty chill. A lot are still poor and it can suck, but the weed and nice island environment chills them the fuck out. And then you have shit like Haiti that may as well be hell on earth. Of all the island nations Jamaica is probably your best bet for a decent living.

Iceland punches the most above their weight. Population's 400.000 but they have one internationally known singer (Bjork), one internationally known Tv Show (Lazy Town), most of what's known about the Norse comes from Icelandic sagas and Eddas, and people are generally aware of some weird Icelandic customs like eating fermented shark meat or the Yule lads.
