Amish retention rates are actually very high. Only about 10% of Amish abandon their community and lifestyle, and interestingly this proportion has gone down over time. In the early days of Amish life in America, about one in three would defect from the Amish community to join mainstream society. This implies that at least the Amish have successfully set themselves on a different trajectory of evolution compared to the surrounding Anglo-Americans. People who can't stand the religious, conservative, patriarchal society of the Amish have self-selected out of their gene pool for multiple generations now and continue to do so. It's a real possibility that the Amish and the Ultra-Orthodox and similar groups represent the next step of human evolution, because they alone have developed an immunity against the anti-natalist feminism which has tanked the TFR of mainstream society well below sustainable levels.
