OP is specifically talking about the Vietnam War, and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. All three of which command a greater place in the American national conscious than wars that were over in a matter of weeks.

The ROK Army in general was just better than the ARVN. It initially struggled against the PKA in 1950 but after that, they reorganized, had a shakedown in leadership, and completely turned it around. By 1953, they were pulling their own weight. The ARVN never had that reckoning, it was beset by the same crippling problems it had on its first day to its very last.
