If your vision of your enemy is two-dimensional, it's because you're projecting.
But don't be mistaken - this isn't a gradeschool insult.
"Projecting" doesn't mean you're seeing yourself one-to-one in an "i'm rubber you're glue" kind of way, though the "projector" is definitely in your own head.
Whether its anger or fear, the negative feelings we think belong to our 2D enemies must be used as signals for our next probe of the real world, which is like an inner "boss fight".
But remember the only way to fight this boss is to live with it. The only way to finish your broccoli is to eat it. The only way out, is through. You can trust that once you've chosen to avoid Tartars as a matter of free choice, rather than impulse, they will no longer haunt your dreams.
Be wise that "killing" your inner demons symbolically, by projecting them onto blacks or jews or turks, rather than addressing them genuinely is a sure-fire way to be stuck with them for eternity. It's like trying to destroy your shadow by destroying the concrete it's laying across. Simply turn around and face the sun.
