The Buddha's teachings often highlighted the universality of certain truths across different cultures. The destruction of artifacts representing another tradition might be seen as a disregard for the shared human quest for understanding and peace.

The Taliban, in destroying Buddhist iconography, acted ignorantly, hatefully, and violently. This ignorance, hate, and violence was directed toward inanimate objects that could not harm anybody or anything. The Buddha would not approve of any of this even if he wished that this iconography was not made in the first place.

he wouldnt much approve or dissaprove, he would probably be amused by it, and say a lot of wise stuff about not fixating on material things, how all is transient and void, as void as the empty space left behind by the statues, how acting out of malice and hatred is bad karma and leads to suffering, maybe even pull a short poem, many such enlightened things
