In practice, most rulers of past principalities were seldom Christian as they allowed usury which was explicitly frowned upon by Christ Himself, if they were truly Christian they would not have allowed this or Jews to come in and abuse their populations.. as Martin Luther also writes.

Regular reminder that usury is ANY interest. The current attempts to reframe it as excessive interest is mere cope for the fact that the entire world, from major international financial corporations down to Nonnas retirement account, runs on paying or being paid interest. Which is more important, your comfortable life of sin or obeying the Lord?
