It's density, but mostly conflating and misrecording alcohol deaths. Most suicide differences are due the more stat countries recording better and a lot of African conditions being recorded as homicide or malaria.
In reality the concept of suicide doesn't exist in Africa but people still blow themselves up and die doing stupid things at similar rates everywhere. Places that have high background death rates from harsh climate have extremely high or low suicide depending on whether it's recorded.
Countries which had recent crises sometimes can lack utilities to deal with the climate and likewise have high suicide rates. Suicide is just the geographic death rate combined with people in colder climates killing themselves indoors and in warmer climate dying of something they're doing.
