KJV is the best version because it preserves the English language at it's most interesting and refined state. If you want to "learn English", you have to know the English of the KJV/Shakespeare.
Any English before that, seems too "German" and difficult to read easily for Normies. Anything after that sounds derivative and invariably references, or quotes KJV and Shakespeare.
In terms of it's word-for-word accuracy to the original Greek......it's meh(B-/C). There Greek was OK, but not as good as ours today and their """Hebrew""" was virtually non-existent and no Gringo in Europe was fluent in any way, so all of those bits were a bit of a guess. Even the Jews of the day had pretty sketchy Hebrew and factual, historical info about the Levant. The authors also had to turn it into Royal Propaganda to please a Protestant King, etc......
Considering they did all of that by committee while making it quite poetic and a pleasure to read, and it becomes more impressive than it being a simple historical document.
I forget the name of it, but there was an accompanying document submitted with the first KJV saying that they knew that it was an imperfect translation, but that they did the best they could with what they had and that future authors should be willing and open to corrections and edits......so, of course no one has touched it ever since.
Normies couldn't read anyway, so it was written for the clergy, who obviously took to it. The rhythm and rhyme of it, makes it easy to memorize and to preach a loud to the masses, which is how 98% got their Bible.
No matter where you go in the world today, when people say "The Bible(tm)", they mean KJV. Even if you despise Christianity to its core, and you should, you MUST know the KJV to be considered educated.
