Girard
Please tell me some other other anons have heard of Girard, Mimeticism, model-obstacle, the Skandelon. These theories are perfect for 4chan.

For the uninitiated his theory begins that humans are insanely imitative. They copy everything about their parent figure, and later any other model in their life that they choose

When the son grows to maturity, he starts to encroach on his father's domains. Fortunately the father is old and will die soon. The problem really arises when one brother takes another for his model, ensnaring both in a competitive/imitative cycle. This imitation has caused Cain and Able like scenarios for hundreds of thousands of years.

one "technology" created to solve this problem of rampant envy is, of course, the evil eye. It's just not a very good solution since there's lots of violence in evil-eye using societies. But the desire to stop jealousy between equals is there.

The main solution that allows a primitive society to grow is the shared victim. Two brothers that will kill each other can instead visit their wrath on an outsider. A town full of "two brother" scenarios can be "cleansed" by all grouping up and killing a super-outsider. All the townsfolk can feel the town cleansed of violence by this aciton, and so they rejoice and celebrate this "thing" they just killed. This is the first human sacrifice, and also the first god.

The next time internal strife fills the community and there starts to be a lot of patricide, some will remember the previous peace created by the previous group murder, and so they will do it again, or in other words, ritualize it. In Greece they had ugly people ready to kill when groups got to rowdy.

And voila! Now you have a theory that explains why ritual human sacrifice can be found in both new and old worlds, in spite of 30,000+ years of separation! It is simply emergent.
