How did women deal with periods historically? They didn't have pads. Did they bleed as much as modern women? What about the pain?
Anonymous No.18073101
They probably just bled everywhere. No wonder women were considered unclean.

I know some cultures would just force women to sit in an isolated room when they were menstruating. Probably didn't make the experience any more pleasant for them, but it might have for everyone else.

They would use a cloth or a rag, hence the expression "on the rag."

Civilized cultures would have women stuff in absorbant materials and pretend they weren't menstruating since it was unclean and taboo. Monkey cultures would lock away women during menstruation to free bleed into holes.
