Bible bros, did we update our cognitive dissonance cope to match up with the recent discoveries?
>be archaeologist
>dig around Sinai for decades
>find literally zero evidence of millions of Israelites wandering for 40 years
>Exodus not even once
>read about Jericho walls falling from trumpet blast
>actually check Jericho
>city was already destroyed centuries before Joshua would’ve arrived
>bible cope intensifies
>open Bible
>David and Solomon had giga-kingdom with gold, palaces, empire vibes
>check archaeological record
>barely find a few huts and broken pottery
>“unified monarchy” my ass
>see Philistines mentioned in Abraham’s time
>they didn’t even exist yet
>bible.exe has stopped working
>global flood with Noah and zoo boat
>geology and archaeology: “nah bro, never happened”
>no flood layers, no mass extinction, no ark debris
>boat story just vibes
>look up ancient records from Egypt, Assyria, Babylon
>expect epic Bible battles and plagues
>records: “who?”
>Bible getting ghosted by history
>dig in Canaan
>expect foreign Israelite invaders
>instead find Canaanites slowly evolving into Israelites
>“conquest of Canaan” was just a rebrand
>analyze Hebrew texts
>turns out most were written centuries after events they describe
>tfw your holy book is historical fanfic

what now? "we just haven't dug deep enough"? Bible bros are always updating the cope.exe :)

Faith is supposed to be a personal, experiential matter. Things like evidence and reason have no such place in it. Read William James.

Good post. The jays decided to rip off The Republic to create a distinct identity about 2300 years ago by writing the septuagint/tanakh and soon thereafter the new testament and the talmud.
Jay historical claims should always be assumed to be exaggerations until proven to be fabrications.

What were they supposed to find, millions of footprints?

>city was already destroyed centuries before Joshua would’ve arrived
False

>David and Solomon had giga-kingdom with gold, palaces, empire vibes
Again false. Archaeological record shows plenty of fortresses getting built during this period.

>“unified monarchy” my ass
Mesha stele

>see Philistines mentioned in Abraham’s time
Peleshet existed before their migration to the Levant and had a presence there as merchant.

>bible.exe has stopped working
Nice fantasy, enjoy hell.

>geology and archaeology: “nah bro, never happened”
Plenty of seashells have been found in moutnains.

>expect foreign Israelite invaders
>“conquest of Canaan” was just a rebrand

This applies to all religions. "debunking" things irrespective of lived experiences mean nothing. Science cannot explain the "what-its-likeness" of conscious experience or even higher level religious experience. things are supposed to remain shrouded in mystery and the hubris of the Enlightenment caused Gods wrath.

I'm no atheist but this sounds like the god of the gaps argument.
>things are supposed to remain shrouded in mystery
Therefore christians, jews and muslims shouldn't claim to know the truth and shouldn't kill the ones who don't believe in their religion.
>hubris of the Enlightenment caused Gods wrath.
Or maybe it was caused by other things, things that someone like Ted Kaczynski criticized? Things that lead every empire to collapse in a spenglerian sense?

Nope. This is a falsehood. They cluster with Peninsular Arabians and have little Jewish ancestry as seen in any study that actually uses peninsular arabian reference samples. Even in the ones that don't, usually as it is not the focus of the study, they still have among the least Israelite/Canaanite ancestry among the Arabs signalling the exogenous origin.

Only a few of them descend from Jews who converted to Christianity, around Nablus. Most Jews and Christians emmigrated or fled in the centuries since Arab conquest due to caliphate persecution, Crusades, famines, etc. The population plummeted with no corresponding Arab rise (no conversion).

This is enough to disprove all of the points in the OP. I love the "scholarly" cope I'm seeing in the face of the obvious connections these tablets establish.

Maybe the Bible is literature that references semi-historical events rather than a historical document that is semi-literary?

I think there are relatively few books like the bible in that it has an incredible depth of exegesis. You can read a single story from it and interpret it in like 5 different ways. When people say "people need religion", I think maybe what people actually need is a Tower of Babel, if you will. People need a thing that unifies all meaning. We need something that many people can look into and all find the meaning that they sought out for themselves, even if they are contradictory to one another.

In other words, maybe there's something inherently psychotic about the human condition, and we align our minds towards a common vision. And as we get down to the lowest level of this common vision, we find the strongest evidence of this psychosis, this animalistic chaos barely held at bay by the institutions that arose around us.

It proves the Habiru (read, Hebrews) were fighting the Cannanites, in the same places around the same time as the biblical conquest.

Book references:
- Language Crystal by Lawrence Lyons
- Origin of Consciousness by Julian Jaynes
- The Kabbalah (no particular analysis I prefer over another)
- The major arcana of the Tarot (ditto)

I think understanding the meaning of the bible is sort of like understanding the origin of language. Take the fact that the major arcana is 22 in number, corresponding to 22 hebrew letters and 22 paths on the tree of life. Did they just fabricate the tree of life to make sense of these paths? Do the paths themselves even sketch out little letters on a grid?

To start, take very simple storytelling and imagine how that transitions to written language. You'd probably draw out pictures of the most typical archetypal things. And if you told stories about the human experience (rather than just observational facts), then you'd ultimately start talking about archetypes that are relevant to personal growth and discovery. That doesn't mean this is a perfect process leading to a rock solid scientific theory of consciousness, but it means it leads to something that a lot of people can relate to on some level. And if nothing else, I think the bible represents this.

I think every language is built on foundational works, rather than foundational works being merely built on language. Language is constantly evolving. Why would we put effort into preventing that? Maybe because there's a work of literature that connects everything at some point in time that we want to continue to revisit that moment and try to apply it to the present.

As part of this role of unifying meaning, it seems like we also need a unifying conspiracy to rally against. We both need a positive unifying message and a negative motivating force. We can find both in the bible. Perhaps both are literally true, or perhaps our need for these things simply caused us to develop interpretations of the bible where they are true and real.
